Elements & Quarters in Wiccan Circle

Working with Elements & Quarters

What are the Quarters /Elements in Wicca?

The Quarters represent the 4 Elemental forces- Air, Fire, Water and Earth. They are invited into the Circle from their 4 directions of East, South, West and North respectively. This gives energy and balance for the Magic Circle. The elements also connect to the 4 transpersonal functions of a person- thinking, action, feeling, sensing, respectively.

Calling / Invoking the Quarters:

The Quarter-caller stands in the appropriate quarter, faces out and by a magical wand /tool or just a finger, creates a `door’ on the Circle’s boundary. He or she then `calls’ that Element through that door, into the circle. This person is then in charge of that energy through out the ritual, until the element-force is sent back at the end.
